Kara OTT release: Dhanush’s heist drama gears up for Netflix premiere

Dhanush’s Kara, praised for its rooted storytelling and intense heist drama, is all set to begin streaming on Netflix after its theatrical run.

Dhanush’s Kara is gearing up for its OTT release after its theatrical run. The film will start streaming on Netflix from May 28, with the platform officially acquiring the post-theatrical rights.

Box office updates

Directed by Vignesh Raja, Kara hit theatres on April 30 and drew attention for its rooted storytelling, period backdrop and intense performances. Set during the 1991 Gulf War and fuel crisis, the film follows Karasaami aka Kara, a man who gets pulled back into crime while trying to protect his family and survive difficult circumstances.

The film’s major strengths lie in its immersive setting, emotionally-driven narrative and engaging heist moments. Dhanush’s performance was widely appreciated for bringing depth and intensity to the character, while the gritty treatment and rural backdrop added authenticity to the storytelling.
